Garnell Sushi & Poke in 1st Settlement, New Cairo

Garnell is a fusion restaurant offering sushi and poke bowls with the goal of offering some of the best sushi in New Cairo.

Signature Dishes & Dishes Sampled

Garnell’s signatures are the family-size sushi platters for couples or groups to share. From nigiri to sashimi to fried rolls, the signature style at Garnell is mix-match-share!

Arriving early to Garnell was a treat as we had the entire restaurant to ourselves. We took in the ambience and quickly ordered starters. First, we started our meal with shrimp two ways, first was the Shrimp Crackers with teriyaki sauce and sesame seeds, then the Shrimp Soup, hearty comfort food. The Salmon and Shrimp Balls and Seafood Salad made for light starters. We went for one of the family style sushi platters from the extensive sushi menu. It included Nigiri, Hoso Maki, Sashimi, Ura Maki, Fried Rolls, and Temaki. The sushi held its own with a variety of flavors, colors, sizes, and styles. Of the crowd favorites, are the California Roll, Salmon Sashimi, and Philadelphia Roll. Some of the most notable rolls were the Dragon Roll; eel and crab meat topped with avocado and sesame seeds, as well as the Temaki Salmon, a large and unique hand-rolled cone filled with salmon, avocado and rice. For dessert we had the chocolate fudge cake and molten cake to end the dinner on a sweet note.

Other Menu Options that Appealed & Beverages Available

The sushi was fantastic, but next time around the Teppanyaki Chicken and Teriyaki Beef are on our must-try list. Overall, the menu has many options to mix and match including a section of sushi for vegans and vegetarians.

Beverage options include soft drinks, juices, teas, and sodas.

Décor & Ambience

Zen-chic decor with modern materials and earthy tones. The simple tables and chairs create a crisp and clean look with an Asian flair.

Garnell’s offers a warm and airy dining space with a peaceful ambience that is rare in the bustling metropolis of Cairo. The mood is inviting and is appropriate for a quick bite or an evening out.

Clientele mix: Mixed clientele from students to professionals looking to dig into some delicious sushi.

Price range:  For sushi and fusion food the prices are economical with a lot of bang for your buck. If you are a sushi-a-holic, Garnell won’t break the bank.

5 Tips to Cope with Your Inner Bridezilla

You want your wedding day to be perfect and it will be! We know you can’t handle the stress of imagining that things could go wrong on your wedding night but you should kill your inner bridezilla. Check out these 5 tips and move from being a bridezilla to being a bridechilla!

Stop overthinking about your wedding dress!

Wanting to have the best wedding dress is definitely every girl’s dream, but do not overthink whether it might turn out to look bad! Think about it … the designer wouldn’t want you to look bad in your dress because that will ruin their reputation, so they will care about putting effort into it just as much as you do. Leave it to your designer and let it go.

Do not compare your wedding to other weddings!

It is YOUR DAY, not theirs. You need to stop looking at other weddings because each wedding has its own edge. Your wedding planner will absolutely handle all the details, so leave it to them because they know what they’re doing and everything will go as planned.

Go to the spa

It’s time to give yourself a break and start pampering yourself. Go to the spa, get a massage and have a day for yourself to release all that tension.

How to Get the Perfect Tan During Spring Break

Sun’s out, swimsuits on! Spring break is almost here and wherever you’re planning to go make sure to check out these tips to get the perfect tan on your vacation. Don’t we all just want to be sun-kissed safely?

Exfoliation is crucial!

Removing old dead skin cells is the most important method to get an even tan. Scrub your body right before your tan and get rid of your flaky skin. There are tons of exfoliators but the best ones are mainly coffee, salt, and sugar scrubs.

Hydrate your skin!

It is known that the winter dries your skin out; but now that winter is gone, don’t stop applying moisturizers to keep your skin hydrated and moist. Start using your moisturizer a week before tanning to eliminate dry skin.

Apply the right tanning oil and sunscreen

Choosing the right SPF depending on your skin will help maintain your tan. Make sure to use your sunscreen lotion because UV rays will harm your skin.

Do not tan all day!

Dr. Nick Lowe recommends two to three hours of sun exposure if you have fair skin because your skin wouldn’t produce melanin after that and will only jeopardize your skin from the UV.

Eat food that will protect you from the sun!

To avoid the risk of UV damage, protect your skin and consume sun-friendly food like fish, red and orange fruits or vegetables, chocolate and green/black tea.

Cool your skin down!

Take a cool shower right after your tan to soothe your skin.

Finally … After-Sun!

People usually forget to use after-sun after tanning, even though it is vital to do so. Using an after-sun lotion will help your tan last longer as well as protect your skin from any overexposure.
