Sort Out Your Emotional Baggage with Emotion Code Clearing

Emotion Code

How aware are we of the issues lurking beneath the surface of our psyches? Are the daily decisions that steer the course of our lives healthy and based on self-knowledge and clarity? Holistic Health Consultant and Emotion Code clearing practitioner, Maha Abou Taleb met our questions.

The origin of Emotion Code clearing

The Emotion Code is a technique developed by Dr. Bradley Nelson, and it works by literally getting rid of emotional baggage that we have accumulated over the years and that is tainting our reactions to every situation in our life. Using muscle testing, we quickly identify and release hidden trapped emotions, which are harmful emotional energies from negative past events.

Much of our suffering is due to negative emotional energies that have become ‘trapped’ within us. The Emotion Code is a simple and powerful method of finding and releasing these trapped energies.

A therapy session involves:

  • Muscle testing to identify the trapped emotion
  • Using a pendulum to identify the emotions
  • Releasing trapped emotion by a specialized magnet running over the spine

Benefits of undergoing therapy sessions:

  1. The results of this therapy can bring balance, a new inner calm and profound healing.
  2. Identifying and releasing trapped negative emotions can help you overcome the obstacles of your past, past traumas, limiting beliefs and physical pain, thus bringing new life to your career, family and relationships as well as general health and wellbeing.
  3. A significant percentage of physical illness and emotional difficulty and self-sabotage are actually caused by the unseen energies of trapped emotions and most of the time they are the cause of pain.
  4. One of the nice things about Emotion Code is that people’s private matters can remain private as they don’t need to explain or vocalize the event that created the trapped emotion.

How many sessions does it take to be effective?

This is a difficult question to answer as each individual is unique and has his or her own mental/ emotional/physical blue print. Usually people can feel immediate relief but it all depends on the emotional baggage they are carrying and on their presenting complaint.

What are the main complaints it can help with?

Emotion Code release can help with many conditions whether physical, mental or emotional. Some of the conditions could be:

  • Depression
  • Panic attacks
  • Anxiety
  • Phobias
  • Low self-confidence or self esteem
  • Thyroid problems
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Asthma
  • Pains
  • Fears
  • Allergies
  • Insomnia
  • Migraine
  • Sinus
  • Vertigo
  • ADD/ADHD
  • Chronic fatigue

Is the therapy suitable for everyone?

Yes, it is definitely fine for everyone, including children, pregnant women, men, and the elderly.

What can it do and what can’t it do?

We can’t say that releasing trapped emotions is a cure-all, or that it can be used in itself to address major medical conditions, but it is a complementary therapy that can help a lot.

Lexie’s at Lakeview

Lexie’s Cairo Restaurant

Lexie’s has carved its own niche on the local dining scene, not only for a buzzing vibe and edgy decor, but also for its brilliant and innovative take on Italian cuisine. So when owner Ayman El Baky and Executive Chef Reif Otham took the decision to showcase Egypt’s excellent local produce on the updated menu, our curiosity was piqued. Suffice to say, we came away impressed.

Signature Dishes & Dishes Sampled

Their signature dishes include: Beef Carpaccio, Salmon Gravlax, Lexi’s Caesar Salad with Shrimp, Mushroom Risotto, Lexie’s Lasagna, Salt Baked Seabass, Wagyu Beef Fillet, Chocolate Peanut Butter Semi-Fredo, and not to forget, Lexie’s signature Negroni cocktail, a potent mix of gin, raspberry vermouth, peppercorns and Campari.

A meal at Lexie’s is not to be rushed. Every moment and morsel should be savored, so we opted to enjoy the basket of warm olive oil bread with our pre-dinner cocktails while we lapped up the atmosphere. Our starters arrived in unison; Branzino Carpaccio, finely diced fresh seabass doused in a guacamole and lemon dressing, topped with crunchy hazel nuts, and Gnocchi Pops, homemade deep-fried gnocchi which came resting on a rich tomato salsa, accompanied by pine nuts and Parmesan crisps. These were swiftly followed by Crispy Manzo Pizza, a crisp crust with wafer thin slices of beef carpaccio, fresh Rocca, garlic mayo and shaved Parmesan, and a hearty Melezana. The totally more-ish eggplant came topped with lashings of melted mozzarella, and a rich tomato and pesto sauce and was our idea of comfort food heaven.

We then kept in the mood with a generous dish of Lexie’s Lasgana, open faced delicate sheets of perfectly al dente pasta bathed in a meaty Bolognese sauce, with Parmesan crisps. Each dish celebrated its Italian roots, with rich authentic flavors, but with a lightness that allowed us to look forward to the arrival of our Salt Baked Seabass. A little bit of theatre adds to any dining experience, and the arrival of whole fish, encased in a neatly constructed mound of salt provided just that. Expertly served at our table side, the fish was gradually freed from its casing and portioned into neat servings. For anyone who hasn’t tried this gastronomic treat, please do so. The flesh was flaky and moist, and the simple accompaniment of green beans, baby potatoes and citrus buerre blanc sauce did it full justice. It was the star of an already impressive dining experience, and worth the visit in itself.

We could have happily relaxed over the two shots of homemade mistiqa that suddenly appeared at our table, but agreed to venture on to dessert. After all, it would have been madness to say no to Warm Mango Cake with Caramel Sauce and Licorice Ice Cream, and Banana Tart with Toffee Sauce and Hazelnut Ice Cream. Amazingly, we cleaned our plates. Forgoing coffee, we let the tantalizing flavors of the dessert remain with us as we headed out into the night.

Other Menu Options that Appealed

We would love to try the Wagyu Beef, Warm Shrimp, Parmesan Panacotta, Salmon Confit and the Mushroom Risotto, (along with the rest of the menu we must admit).

Beverages Available

The cocktail selection is creative, intriguing and adventurous.  We enthused about our choice of Sardinia Cooler, a mix of gin, cherry brandy, orange, lemon and house ginger beer, and El Mediteranneo, with rum and house mistiqa. Local wines feature, along with soft options and hot beverages.

Décor and Ambience

In a world of pared back interiors and industrial elements, Lexie’s is unabashedly glam. Chic and sophisticated, from the stunning entrance foyer with its curated selection of artworks, to the subtly lit interior. Colors are warm, flattering, and boldly used in a palette of golds, bronze and warm browns with liberal use of marble. A large round bar could dominate the space, but somehow works as an eye-catching center point to the gentle hum of activity from the surrounding tables. The comfortable well-spaced interior flows through to an outdoor terrace, with high tables and a view over the greenery and water beyond.  The service standards are high, attentive and courteous.

Lexie’s own music compilation drew us in immediately, ranging from contemporary Italian hits to favorites that will never age. In a nutshell, it was hard to drag ourselves away as the evening drew to a close.

Clientele Mix: A stylish crowd, with a casual yet chic mien. On our visit 25+.

Price Range: High end, but deservedly so.

What We Loved: The decision to integrate many locally sourced items was a brave move, but it paid off. The food quality was impeccable, and we would like to see more restaurants follow this lead.

Chicken & Ribs in ICONIA, Zamalek

Chicken & Ribs Restaurant

Chicken & Ribs, the successful southern comfort kitchen has now landed in Zamalek, in a spacious venue in the newly refurbished ICONIA building (formerly known as the AUC dorms). Serving a massive menu of soul food goodness; country fried chicken, tender brisket, and the only juicy short ribs in town! This is cheat day heaven.

Signatures Dishes & Dishes Sampled

Ribs, slow cooked for 12 hours and smothered in BBQ sauce, Turkey Leg, a giant turkey drumstick slow cooked and served with gravy, and Potato Skins, topped with cheese and chili con carne in ICONIA.

Starving and ready for hearty food, we dived right into our massive order. We ordered the Potato Skins, followed up by an order of Ribs, Turkey Legs, and the Big Mamma Special.

The Potato Skins were delicious and perfect for sharing – a whole potato split in two, topped with melted cheese and a generous portion of chili con carne. But nothing can really top the main courses to follow.

The Big Mamma Special can be served with either dark meat, white meat or a mix – we opted for the white meat. Five generous chicken strips, fried crispy golden, arrived with a portion of Mac n Cheese and coleslaw. Delicious and fiery Buffalo Sauce perfectly complemented the crispy chicken and we didn’t want the meal to end! The Mac n Cheese was the perfect partner for this meal, gooey and cheesy. It’s important to note that the chicken served here is both hormone and antibiotic-free and brined to perfection for maximum juiciness!

The star of the table had to be the Turkey Leg, which was both massive and totally satisfying. Slow cooked to perfection, the meat was falling off the bone, definitely not a dish to miss. Each main course at Chicken & Ribs comes with two sides, and we choose the mashed potato and corn on the cob – both are recommended. Although the restaurant has Chicken in the name, we can’t ignore the meat! The Ribs, smothered in tangy sweet BBQ sauce, were tender and juicy from the slow cooking process over a period of 12 hours. For those who don’t mind a bit of juicy fatty meat, this is a dish that can’t be found easily in Cairo.

We washed down the meal with a classic American Peach Iced Tea, and left room for dessert. The Churros, fried pastry rolled in cinnamon sugar, and Sweet Potato Pie are both delicious! We recommend you leave space to sample both.

Other Menu Options that Appealed & Beverages Available

We’d love to try the BBQ Brisket Cuts, as well as the Louisiana Chicken Sandwich on our next visit. There is a selection of delicious sandwiches that caught our eye; the Pulled Brisket and Hickory Chicken Sandwiches, as well as the Southern Fried Chicken Breast.

Beverages offered include soft drinks, as well as fresh juices, milkshakes and mocktails.

Décor & Ambience

Chicken & Ribs has ample courtyard seating and a small selection of indoor tables for those who seek shelter. The décor is colorful, with diner-style seating and upbeat music and TV screens for entertainment.

Clientele Mix: Groups of friends mingling and socializing on the weekend and families enjoying a meal together.

Price Range: Average to above average depending on what you order.
