Your Love Forecast for 2020

By Maeri Frances

Besotted, or bewildered? All loved up, or feeling blue? Let’s see how your love life is shaping up for the year ahead. Venus is the planet of love, but you need to look at the bigger picture as well.

P.S. Don’t forget to read your rising sign as well if you know it.

Aries

Venus spends February in your Solar 1st House, so you should invest in a few beauty items. This is the time to work on your appearance, and attract attention for all the right reasons. The period from late October through November is good for drawing closer to your special someone, or taking a relationship to a more committed level. Avoid letting career issues impact your close emotional ties.

Taurus

You should bloom during March, as Venus lights up your birth sign. Throw in some quirky energy from Uranus and you have a dazzling combo that will make you stand out from the crowd. While it is fun to attract, you value your freedom these days and are not really looking to settle down. Married folks may need a little more breathing space to pursue hobbies and travel urges this year.

Gemini

Your key periods are April and December, so if you are still unattached, use your mercurial charm to best effect then. Late October also holds some promise for the unattached, and pleasant moments for those already hitched. It will be important to maintain a less erratic and impulsive approach to relationships, you can shoot yourself in the foot at times.

Cancer

You have been dealing with a heavy hitting Saturn-Pluto team up in your relationship sector for quite a while now. This could have been tearing a relationship at the seams, or placing a burden on your shoulders. Now, with the transit of Jupiter, things will brighten and you will be able to work towards solutions. Make the most of the period from early August to early September to mend bridges.

Leo

This year introduces a new mood into your love life. It could be viewed as a testing time, where you need to evaluate your current relationship, or lack thereof, or buckle down and show a stronger commitment. How you handle this will reflect on where you stand as December rolls around, when Jupiter enters your 7th house. New opportunities open up then for the unattached, and existing relationships reach a new level of maturity.

Virgo: If you used your time wisely during January your relationships should be looking quite healthy. Things look good for October, when you could see someone new enter your life. Truth be told, you haven’t really been looking for warm fuzziness in your emotional life recently. Other matters have taken a priority. When Jupiter enters the picture in December however, you may be more approachable.

Libra

Use Venus’s charm in smoothing over any bumps in a close relationship this February, it is Valentine’s month after all! It must be admitted that you could be preoccupied with work, family and home matters throughout a lot of the year, but as October draws to a close you should be in the mood for a little more romance. It also helps that domestic life should see a big improvement by year end.

Scorpio

March may see you putting extra effort where a relationship is concerned, and by the close of 2020 it should be apparent that this has paid off. Uranus is transiting your Solar 7th house, throwing all sorts of challenges your way. Things could be going through an off-on phase, or a spouse could be obliged to be away for periods during the year. Rather than obsessing and trying to control things, try to see the positives in this, each reunion could be intense!

Sagittarius

April will be important for reaching out for support from your significant other. Times may have been tough financially in recent months, and while this may have cemented your bond, it would be nice to have a little fun in your lives again. Your ruling planet, Jupiter, has been keeping your mood upbeat, and thankfully will help finances by the end of 2020. December is really your month this year, well worth waiting for.

Capricorn

Life seems to have been all about responsibilities and setting structure. What fun! Isn’t it time you loosened up a bit and spent time on having some lighter moments? Jupiter is entering your sign, possibly adding a few extra kilos and a much more optimistic view on life. Summertime of 2020 is a high point in your year, so hit the beach, get together with friends and, if unattached, be ready for interesting new faces to enter your life. Or even someone from your past.

Aquarius

Independent as you are, you prefer to go it alone rather than burden close ones with issues you feel you should handle yourself. This can make you appear aloof at times, and can be confusing for people who really, truly do care about you. There has been a lot brewing beneath the surface in your life, with an unsettled feeling. Yes, you love change, but on your own terms! The end of summer looks rosy for getting closer to a special person, or meeting a kindred spirit.

Pisces

Friends have been a mainstay in your life for a while, with all their ups and downs and complications. You have such a soft shoulder to cry on! This has left little time for more intimate relationships and may have impacted your marriage or other close ties. As Jupiter moves into Capricorn, friendships may feel a lift and become the joy they should be. Your most romantic period should be October, something to look forward to.

The Love Poems of Rumi

By Jalal Al-Din Rumi

Rumi’s poems express the deepest longings of the human heart for its beloved, for that transcendent intimacy which is the source of the divine. Exalted yearning, ravishing ecstasy, and consuming desire emerge from these poems as powerfully today as they did on their creation more than 700 years ago.

The Map of Love

Combining the romance and intricate narrative of a nineteenth-century novel with a very modern sense of culture and politics, both sexual and international.

The Woman Who Wanted More

By Vicky Zimmerman

Two lonely women. An unlikely friendship. And one big life lesson: never be ashamed to ask for more. An unlikely friendship between two lonely and stubborn souls, one at the end of her life, one stuck in the middle, who come to show each other that food is for feasting, life is for living and the way to a man’s heart is … irrelevant!

Osho challenges readers to examine and break free of the conditioned belief systems and prejudices that limit their capacity to enjoy life in all its richness

How to Be an Adult in Love: Letting Love in Safely and Showing It Recklessly

By David Richo

Richo provides wisdom from Buddhism, psychology, and a range of spiritual traditions, along with a wealth of practices both for avoiding the pitfalls that can occur in love relationships and for enhancing the way love shows up in our lives. He then leads us on to love’s inevitable outcome: developing a heart that loves universally and indiscriminately.

YASMINE RAIES: Egypt’s Own Tomb Raider

Les Baghdad is the first of its kind in Egypt, a gripping adventure comedy that raises the bar for action sequences and special effects. We caught up with the stunning Yasmine Raies to find out what makes this movie one to watch.

CWM: Tell us about your character in Les Baghdad, what made her a special role to play?

Y.R: Les Baghdad was a new challenge for me. I portray a history fanatic named Salma Soliman who gets involved with Youssef, played by Mohamed Emam. They embark on an adventure to hunt Alexander the Great’s treasure.

I am always drawn to any project that enables me to play a new character, and in Les Baghdad, my character has a lot of action scenes, and she has her own brand of comedy. What drew me to Salma is how funny she is as a character, with her own catchphrases and unique reactions to what is happening around her. She’s a non-traditional girl, with a special interest in history.

What drew you to this project, what makes it different from other films being released nowadays?

The movie presents a new genre of Egyptian filmmaking with a lot of special effects and graphics to deliver the scenes in a very polished way. The scenes the audience will watch are a first for Egyptian cinema!

The film looks like it had some challenging scenes to shoot, how did you prepare yourself to take on the role

The challenges weren’t in the action scenes only. There were scenes that combine action and comedy, which is new for me. I had to do physical and mental preparations for the movie, but I was working with professional coordinators because some of the scenes have stunt work. The drowning and the tomb scenes were definitely challenging, but the drowning scene is definitely one of my favorites and also one of the scenes I had to train for the most to be able to shoot it perfectly

Could you relate to the character you played? What about the other characters, what was your impression of them?

With every character I perform I have to muster a part of my own character so I can portray it genuinely. All the movie characters are special in their way, and I believe our harmony is what’s going to make this movie a success! Whether it’s Amina Khalil, Mohamed Emam, Mohamed Abdel-Rahman, or Fathy Abdelwahab, they all did a phenomenal job.

O’Mama Burger House in Zamalek

By Mai Omar

It may be nestled in small space, but O’Mama Burger House is big on delivering. Similar to the busy Zamalek street on which it is located, the new dining spot is busy with burger lovers who are looking for a tasty on-the-go bite. We popped over on a Saturday afternoon to sample their menu.

Dishes Sampled

Embodying the phrase “less is more”, O’mama’s menu is small and concise. A beef and fried chicken burger is the base of the menu with different sauces and spices to play around with. We started off our meal with a generous bucket of tender chicken strips paired with four different sauces; BBQ, buffalo, honey mustard, and O’Mama special sauce.

The double beef burger was perfectly cooked and seasoned, with red cheddar cheese complimenting the juicy patty very well. The fried chicken burger came next paired with the same four sauce combination. The batter was deliciously seasoned and the chicken was tender. We enjoyed the offering paired with the spicy buffalo sauce the most and could have devoured 10 more of those! Next we sampled the O’Baby slider; a mini pulled beef slider paired with a delicious coleslaw salad and massive amounts of BBQ sauce. Due to the packed restaurant, the slider arrived a bit cold unfortunately.

All burgers are served with an order of crispy, well-seasoned fries. We washed down our meals with a creamy vanilla ice-cream milkshake – a perfect sweet end to our meal!

Other Menu Options that Appealed & Beverages Available

We’d like to return to sample the corn on the cob appetizer served with lemon butter sauce. Beverages available are soft drinks and milkshakes.

Décor and Ambience

A big comfy bench and a number of high stools, the small space is surprisingly accommodating to a big number of diners as well as people ordering to go.

Clientele mix: A lot of young adults who are looking to grab a quick bite with friends passed through the place.

Price range:  Prices are reasonable for burgers and sliders.
