To tantalize our taste buds, Chef Othman from Kazoku has rolled out a new menu to tempt us. Innovative, fun and a full sensory experience, it shouldn’t be missed. Browse an entirely new menu of what could be considered one of the best sushi restaurants in New Cairo, comprising of innovative and tasty sushi and Japanese cuisine.

Signature Dishes & Dishes Sampled

Signature dishes include the Grilled Wagyu Beef with Seaweed Butter, Smashed Potatoes and Lemon Ponzu Mayonnaise; Miso Glazed Black Cod with Honey Miso Sauce; Roasted Lobster with Chili Ponzu Butter; Chilean Sea Bass, Oven Roasted with Jalapeño and Ginger Sauce.

The temptation to order more than you could possibly manage is overwhelming. Everything on the menu simply screams out to be tried. Luckily, Chef Othman and the team at Kazoku have beautifully curated tasting menus to meet situations like this. Dishes complement each other, allowing a full experience and range of flavors and textures.

We launched our meal with a special nigiri selection. Fresh shrimp, sea bass, salmon and tuna, all delicately balanced on individual mounds of rice. The creamy wasabi, pickled ginger and soya sauce on the side worked perfectly. With a platter of moist, pink seared Salmon Tataki with Lemon Basil Soy and Mustard Miso, a generous portion of Chirachi Roll sushi, along with a ceviche of shrimp and octopus, coconut leche de tigre and grilled pineapple, we were kept busy until our other dishes arrived. Chilled Noodles may sound a little strange to the uninitiated, but teamed with slivers of peppers, crab and sea bass, they were heaven. The Lemon Ponzu dressing and onion crisps must be the secret.

By the time our Beef Gyoza and Corn with Herb Ponzu Butter arrived we were slowing to a more relaxed pace. Flavors were subtle but intense, a journey for our palates. The Grilled Rice Hot Pot with Lemon Dashi Broth was crammed with several types of mushroom, and filling. Teamed with panko-breaded Chicken Katsu with Japanese curry sauce and baby potatoes, we really had a challenge to finish our plates.

We did, however, save a corner for dessert. The Bento Box was a treasure trove. Four individual bowls, each with a mind-blowing sweet confection, from Matcha Brûlée, to Yuzu Lemon Curd with Sesame Nut Crumble, a decadently gooey Dark Chocolate Fondant with Caramel Popcorn and Chocolate Semi Fredo.

It was a challenge to budge from our very comfortable seats, so we sat back to absorb the great music and buzzing atmosphere before reluctantly heading home.

Other Menu Options that Appealed & Beverages Available

The Chilean Sea Bass caught our eye, but we would happily try anything on the menu, it all looked so good.

Beverage options include a well-stocked bar as well as soft options. The cocktail menu is divine and a ‘must try’.

Décor and Ambience

Chic, contemporary with just enough visual interest in the form of beautiful pottery to bring an authentic Japanese mood. Good background music that amped up as the Kazoku filled up with eager diners. Seating options vary, with high tables, bar seating, and some tables outside, overlooking greenery and attractive water features.

Clientele mix: Sophisticated 25+ crowd who know where to find great food.

Price range: High end, but so worth the indulgence.

Worth noting: Even on a week night we saw the restaurant fill up quickly, so reserve in advance.
