Signature dishes: Kamala serves Asian cuisine from five countries: Thailand, Malaysia, China, Indonesia and Japan, with stars being Chinese dim sum, Thai curries, Japanese sushi and Indonesian grilled meats.

Dishes sampled: The complimentary shrimp crackers accompanied with soya, sweet chili, and plum sauces gave the perfect beginning to an eventful night ahead. The ‘Soup of the Day’, Tom Yam Goong, a clear spicy sour soup with shrimp, lemongrass, galangal and tomato was perfect on a cold winter’s night. Our dim sum arrived in a steamy bamboo basket containing nine perfectly stuffed dumplings of shrimp, chicken, vegetable, and salmon, with thin dough that allowed us to enjoy the delicate flavor. Tumis sapi (stir fry) with tender cuts of beef and a black pepper sauce served with delicious steamed sticky rice wrapped in a lotus leaf in a large steaming basket. We loved the traditional chicken curry, a sweet and spicy affair with a subtle coconut milk base, Thai baby corn, and green eggplant that gave it that kick of spice that we loved. The galangal delivered a heavenly aroma that made this one of those dishes you find yourself thinking about long after your meal. For dessert, a scoop of coconut ice cream with roasted coconut flakes was a much-needed light fix.

Décor: Mahogany-colored wooden panels, and chairs with a hint of pink, accented by a pool filled with floating lotus flowers.

Ambiance: Oriental décor, intimate mood lighting and red crystal chandeliers create an atmosphere set to make you feel in the heart of exotic Asia.

Clientele mix: An ideal place to take a date.
