Ever wondered what you’re doing wrong? The reason you’re feeling unsatisfied or unhappy is possibly you. Your own actions might be the primary cause of your unhappiness. Here are 10 self-destructive things you don’t know you’re doing that are actually destroying you.

1. Unhealthy Overthinking

Self-Destructive ThingsTelling yourself things like “I’m failing, I can’t do this anymore, I will never be able to overcome this, etc.” and paying attention to your flaws rather than focusing on your gifts. These are all self-destructive thoughts that serve no purpose and will only bring you down. Whenever you catch yourself overthinking try to get your mind on something else.

2. Being on Social Media 24/7

Social media is a misrepresentation of reality. Everything is edited, played with and glamorized, no one should base their judgment on it. Don’t live on your phone and watch other people having a blast, instead go out and live your own life. Take action and stop comparing yourself to others.

3. Overeating or Undereating

Self-image is very important and some of us beat ourselves up about looking perfect in an imperfect world. If you’re binge eating when you’re stressed or dieting obsessively because you dislike the way you look then take a break and think about your health first.

4. Excessive Shopping

This one is for the shopaholics. Spending money on petty things to make you look good when you can’t even afford them is very unhealthy. Instead, focus on buying things you actually need.

5. Working too Hard too Long

Self-Destructive ThingsWork work work and no play is terrible for you, even if you might think that you’re getting productive and making things happen it might take a toll on other things in your life. Make sure to take a break and go out with friends sometime or even relax at home.

6. Hiding Emotions

Not talking about how you feel will break you eventually. Don’t be afraid or ashamed to ask for help, you’ll always find someone willing to do it. Remember that you don’t always have to stay strong it’s okay to admit your weaknesses.

7. Maintaining Unhealthy Relationships

If you find yourself pulling away from all the people in your life and hanging out with the wrong crowd then something is very wrong. Pulling the people you know will hurt you closer is a bad sign and you should trust your intuition when it tells you who you should stay close to and who will bring you down with them.

8. Staying in your Comfort Zone

Not taking chances because you’re afraid of failure will make you miss out on some of the best opportunities in your life. Failure is how you learn so don’t stay defeated, rise up.

9. Not Saying No

Self-Destructive ThingsDon’t be afraid to say no when you don’t want to do something. Pleasing others and putting them first always is not a solution. You need to be selfish sometimes and do what you think is best for you.

10. Regretting the Past

Stop holding on to the past, regret will only cause you pain. Improve yourself and allow your past mistakes to make you a better person. Forgive yourself and don’t hold on to anger towards anyone because you only hurt yourself and your own peace when you do.
