9 Summer Hair Care Tips and Tricks You’ll Wish You Knew Earlier

summer hair care

When it comes to our hair we don’t take it lightly and we know that summer weather is harsh on our hair, making it frizzy, dry and damaged. To keep your hair looking healthy at the end of the summer just like it was at the beginning, here some tips from the hair experts to make sure your hair doesn’t lose its shine this summer. summer hair care

By Mariam Elhamy

  1. Shield your hair from the sun by wearing a scarf or a hat. You love your hair color but it fades in any direct exposure to the sun, wearing any cover will protect it and help your scalp retain moisture. summer hair care
  2. Before going out in the sun apply any UV filter hair care product, whether cream, spray or gel, it will keep your strands from getting scorched.
  3. Before taking a dip in the pool or the sea, wash your hair and use a leave-in conditioner, if your hair is drenched with clean water and conditioner it won’t absorb as much salt water or chlorine from the pool. summer hair care
  4. At least once or twice a week, give your hair a break from blow dryers, flat irons, and curling irons and apply a deep conditioning mask as treatment. summer hair care
  5. Don’t style your hair in really tight hairstyles, they tend to pull and tear hair, especially if it’s dry from the summer heat. Instead, go for a stylish messy braid or bun that is ideal for keeping your hair under control and minimizing exposure to the sun.
  6. Wash your hair less, frequent washing strips your scalp of its natural oils.
  7. To control frizz, make a mix of water, aloe vera, and avocado oil or argan oil. Keep it on hand and spritz whenever you need a bit of moisture and control.
  8. Use some coconut, olive, or avocado oil or shea butter to smooth, de-frizz, and moisturize your locks after shampooing. The oil will give some shine and, if you have wavy hair, create natural, air-dried curls. summer hair care
  9. Avoid pulling anything through your hair when it’s wet since that’s when it’s most susceptible to breaking. Wide-tooth combs are most gentle for untangling hair, as brushes can pull and tear your strands leaving them damaged. summer hair care

Osama Elhady Plays Shamba in Leabet Newton: Exclusive Interview

Learn more about Osama Elhady, the man behind Shamba in Leabet Newton and the musician who did many successful songs like Ashan Lazem Nekoun Maa Baad and El Rad Mabiewsalsh Leh. Osama has just released his newest song Lesa Feya Heel with a brand new music video like nothing we’ve seen before. Here’s how he does it all.

By Mariam Elhamy

Tell us about your newest song ‘Lesa Feya Heel’. What was the idea behind the video?

The idea behind Lesa Feya Heel started with a transition phase in my life. I collaborated with a music producer called Hudz, we had done another song called El Rad Mabiewsalsh Leh and we wanted to present something totally new while keeping it real at the same time.

That’s where the video came in, it was really easy to just make a colorful outdoor one like we’ve done before but instead, we wanted a video that shows a journey. It starts out with someone who keeps struggling and falling alone until he finds his crew and they all face their fears together and they start performing for a big audience on stage.

This all is shown in the choreography made by Ziad Ali, the sequence of the music video and the dancers: Swaggers Crew. I feel like this song says a lot about me personally and I believe that a lot of people will relate to it as well.

Osama ElhadyYou’ve stopped releasing new songs for 4 years. Why the long pause?

I believe that in 2015 I was a different Osama, back then I was making music that was safe and people liked it. But now I want to show my transition and introduce my audience to a different music experience that might not be very well known in the media field.

Tell us the story from the beginning. What got you into music and acting?

I started playing music in 2008, first I learned to play guitar then violin. I used to stay at home all day and just play music until I realized that I didn’t just want to be a guitar player, I wanted to create art through music.

I was writing my own songs and singing them but my voice was terrible so I got someone else to sing them but he just didn’t sound the way I heard them in my head. So I decided to start singing and gradually got better at it then I started a band.

Later in 2012, the true beginning of my music career started with Ashan Lazem Nekoun Maa Baad, which was a very important checkpoint in my life. After that, I played at many concerts all over Egypt and I got deals and sponsorships.

In 2016, I started my own album Yawman Ma Hateer. I did a tour and 2 concerts in Morocco and went to Jordan with Youtube. I then wrote El Rad Mabiewsalsh Leh, which was another milestone for me. The video was made during Ramadan in 5 different cities (Dahab, Ras Shitan, Siwa, Ismailia and Cairo) in 4 days, it was exhausting but the result was really good.Osama Elhady

I wanted to learn to perform well in my music videos and not just stand there with my guitar. Mr Hani Sarhan recommended that I go to an acting workshop with Marwa Gebril. I enjoyed it very much and I got 2 small scenes in El Ab El Rohi then I starred again in season 2 and in El Tofan and that’s when I decided I wanted to create art as well in acting not just music.

Which do you enjoy doing the most out of music, acting and directing?

I enjoy directing the most and I believe it’s the hardest. In acting, I just have to prepare for the role. In music, I have to think about the production, the video, the sound, the mix, the marketing, etc. but in directing I have to focus on all the elements and present them together in a way that creates new art.

Was playing Shamba in Leabet Newton hard to do? Did you relate to it?

This role is really well written and I had a lot of inputs for it when I first got it. It was hard to play alongside Mohamed Mamdouh, Mona Zaki, Sayed Ragab and especially Mr. Tamer Mohsen but overall I really enjoyed playing Shamba, it was a unique experience for me.

If you could change anything in your role or the events of the series what would you change?

I would have liked to be in a scene with Mohamed Farrag (Moenes) and Adam El Sharkawy (Zee).

Which was your favorite scene to play?

The scene when Shamba was pissed at Hazem for yelling at him in front of the rest of the workers and Hazem was trying to ask him to bring him opium. I really understood Shamba’s feelings being mad at Hazem and knowing that he can’t really quit but he’s just trying to get him to apologize.

Which of your songs was a huge success that you didn’t expect?

El Rad Mabiewsalsh Leh had a new style of music and video so I didn’t know what to expect and it made a great impact. It was also the first million hit after Ashan Lazem Nekoun Maa Baad.Osama Elhady

Which singer did you enjoy playing with on stage the most?

Amir Eid in 2012 and Hany Adel in 2016, which was a dream come true.

Who do you consider your role model?

Hani Sarhan.

Favorite music genre?

Pop.

What do you do when you’re not acting or making music?

I love sleeping.

What are your upcoming plans regarding directing and filmmaking?

Once I feel like I’ve reached what I want with music I’d like to make a short film.

7 Exotic Ice Tea Recipes that Will Rock Your Summer

Lena Chamamyan’s hope for the Levant in “Tariq El Shams”

Renowned Syrian singer and songwriter Lena Chamamyan just released her latest song and music video “Tariq El Shams”, which was filmed in Cairo. In the song, Lena presents a greeting to the peoples of “Tariq El Shams”, the old name for the Levant, which she called for the abundance of goodness and warmth in it, but she has suffered from fatigue and wars since the dawn of history until today.

Even the economic crises and the recent disaster in the port bombing, Syria has been affected by war for ten years, in addition to Iraq and Yemen, the land of ancient civilizations, the pain of Libya and Sudan, and the path of the sun is a tribute to the peoples of these tired regions, in the country and in the diaspora, who chose to survive not only by staying on alive but by gathering their strength, generation after generation, as if the building was and still is their destiny inherited from their ancestors.

While she was in Egypt, Lena was busy filming “Tariq El Shams”, which was written by the Lebanese Maher Sabra, composed by the Palestinian Ahmed Al-Khatib, distributed by the Turkish Jihan Sezer and was directed by the Egyptian director Ahmed Gohar.

Lena presented a focused emotional piece where the embodiment of suffering is a “child” caught in her reality, the painful and luminous future after overcoming life’s struggles, with the child symbolizing this future hope being Maryam Essam Al-Saharti, who is an ideal embodiment that is born from the womb of suffering.

For her part, Lena Chamamyan said: “The work is a salute from us to the brave
souls who chose to survive and insisted upon building on top of the ashes despite
the war, diaspora, and siege in the land of the sun, whose beauty and historical
greatness has always been affected with war and destruction”.

She added: “Our hope is for a new generation that knows their culture and history to have a future.”, “and builds a more merciful and humane world.”. She addressed her words to the Shami people, saying: “What’s more difficult than sustaining a wound, is to heal the wounds. We are strong as we were able to build the past, we can build the future with our own hands. We are all one.”

Chamamyan adds: “I address the song to those who wonder “what role do the
arts and music have during wars?” To them, I say: Because I lived through two
diasporas, both the Armenian and the Syrian ones, I realized that wars do not end
with a cease-fire. The most difficult time comes following the aftermath of war
and the losses that come with it.”

“When unity begins, those who chose survival instead of surrender, deserve a moment of respect and sympathy, and we must provide them with whatever support we can in their journey of rebuilding themselves and their countries. Music may not be able to stop wars, but it will certainly help in calming souls that were affected by them. It will bring us closer
as human beings, our understanding, our sympathy, and mercy towards one
another, we are all one in the end, and what you are going through today, I might
experience tomorrow, it’s then I will need your hand to hold while overcoming it.”

Through her new work, Lena is also launching a public campaign entitled “Tariq
El Shams” to provide support to artists, public figures, and even the public
themselves with the hashtag of the song in solidarity with the peoples of the
Levant. Dedicated to the people suffering for their right to live, a beautiful
future, and a better present, the campaign aims to participate with everyone
whether through words, pictures, or videos for artists to provide their support.

The campaign was launched with the participation of several drama and cinema stars in Egypt, with the participation of artist Tarek Sabry, artist Bushra, director Yousry Nasrallah, and director Amir Ramses, who participated in the clip.

Lena Chamamyan will start her new musical debut this year, through “Tariq El
Shams”, which she started with her first concerts in Cairo and the conclusion of
the Cairo International Film Festival. It falls within a group of new lyrical works
that Lena recorded during her stay in Cairo, including a new song in the Egyptian
dialect.

It is scheduled to appear next month and follows the echoes of the great success which met her first Egyptian centered song, “We will live and see it”, and she intends to appear again to her Egyptian audience with a new concert during the upcoming summer season.
