Love Hard
The Vampire Diaries Nina Dobrev is back on screen with this season’s most talked-about rom-com Christmas special. So what happens when Natalie (Nina Dobrev) finds herself catfished on a dating app during the holidays? Netflix holiday specials
The Princess Switch 3: Romancing the Star
Venessa Hudgens and her doppelgangers strike again with the Princes Switch 3. By now, the holiday season would feel weird without one of Hudgens’ light and romantic movies giving us glamorous Christmas vibes in a world of princesses.
A great recommendation for a girls’ night in or on a cold night when you’re bored.
A Boy Called Christmas
You cannot go wrong with a holiday fairytale that has a sweet little boy, a beloved reindeer, and a talking mouse in a snowy environment. Magical as it might be, the movie can get a little dark and sad as it gets into parental loss and grief, so prepare a box of tissues by your side. Netflix holiday specials
Christmas Flow
This French series is where rap meets Christmas! It’s not your usual holiday movie, and maybe that is what we need to hype up this holiday season that continues to be like no other around the world.
Watch for a different and upbeat Christmas movie.
A California Christmas: City Lights
City Lights is the sequel of last year’s A California Christmas, and now wedding bells are ringing. But when city lights come calling, Joseph answers and puts a strain on his relationship with Callie.
A nice corny holiday movie to keep you company on cold days, or just as background noise when your family is visiting. Netflix holiday specials
A Castle For Christmas
A Castle For Christmas brings back all of the nostalgic feels by following a very traditional rom-com plot, and we have missed that! Starring Brooke Shields and Cary Elwes, the movie is set in a castle in Scotland giving us a mix of Beauty & the Beast with Noting Hill while adding a Christmas-y touch.
It is a good watch if you miss old rom-com.
How to Ruin Christmas: Season 2
The South African Christmas comedy is back for part 2, with the same plot of unintentionally ruining Christmas. The Sellos, the Twalas families, are back at it to make you laugh through the cold December nights.
Watch for a good laugh and to get introduced to a new type of humor.
The Claus Family
What would you do if you find out that your grandad is Santa Claus? Watch the Claus Family, where a Dutch boy helps his Santa on his busiest day of the year, Christmas.
It is a cute foreign family movie.
Who said reality TV shows are not for the holiday season? Netflix has two new Christmas reality TV shows for you this season.
School of Chocolate
How beautiful and delicious are chocolate houses and Santa-shaped figures? In the School of Chocolate, contestants are mentored and challenged by the French Master Chocolatier Amaury Guichon to make and build masterpieces (not only holiday-themed) with chocolate! It’s a feast for the eyes.

Blown Away: Christmas
In Blown Away, glassblowing artists compete to create the best Christmas decorations, be it a winter wonderland installation, a tree, or a sculpture. The contestants are given Christmas themes, and they have to create accordingly and then explain the motives behind their creations.
Special mention to two 2020 Holiday Specials to (re)watch:
Holiday Home Makeover with Mr. Christmas
Another interesting reality show to see this holiday is this house makeover with a Christmas twist! Santa Clause has a new task this year, and it is to help people turn their homes into winter wonderlands. Interior Designer Benjamin Bradley, Mr. Christmas is here to help people revamp their homes in the most festive way possible.
Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey
The biggest holiday family movie last year was Jingle Jangle, so in case you have missed it, we suggest you watch it this Christmas. It has everything on the family Christmas special list:
- Music
- Singing Kids
- Appealing visuals and VFX
- The Holiday Spirit
Holidate
One can never get enough of romantic comedies, especially during the holidays. And Holidate is the perfect movie for the cold season because it has light comedy, a suitable soundtrack, and fake-turned-true romance in the city.
