Josy’s Guide to  Optimum Skin    Care

No matter what age you are, taking care of your skin is an investment that will pay off as the years roll by. Everyone has a different skin type, the skin of a 30-year-old can sometimes be like that of a 60-year-old, therefore it really differs. What is paramount is that women should know which products to use and in which order to get the maximum benefit.

Step 1: Daily cleanser

It is important to use a daily cleanser, to wash your face. Rinsing with water is not enough to clean, and therefore you need a good cleanser first. When you clean your face properly it allows the products to work better.

Step 2: Toner

Toners contain a skin-repairing ingredient such as Hyaluronic acid. This skincare ingredient that hydrates and plumps dry and aging skin is a hot item for women worldwide these days. After cleansing, your skin could feel quite dry and tight. A woman with oily skin can use the toner alone as a perfect moisturiser, especially during summer months.

Step 3: Exfoliating

Daily exfoliation helps unclog pores, reduce redness of the skin, blackheads and breakouts, which will help in preventing acne. More importantly it eliminates the build-up of old skin cells. What it does is it stimulates the skin cells, which multiplies the collagen; this diminishes the visibility of wrinkles. Acne prone skin will be benefit from a glycolic acid, as it is essential for achieving clear skin. Daily use of glycolic acid (AHA), found in most exfoliators, helps improve the skin tone for more radiant results.

Step 4: Anti-ageing cream/serum

First use a serum and then a face cream that includes AHA acid, which should be used in the morning to protect the skin from the sun and in the evening to help renew your skin. Hydrating your skin is the first step in any anti-wrinkle treatment, especially when you’re in your 20’s. The area around your eyes is where the first signs of ageing appear; invest in a good eye cream to help slow down the ageing process.

Using antioxidants, such as green tea, Vitamin C, and retinol is beneficial to help in slowing the ageing process. Using all these products will help avoid the damage of ageing, it is never too soon to be on an even track to a clear complexion and a healthier skin.

Tip: Have a facial once a month. Teenagers naturally renew their skin every two weeks, the older we get the longer the process takes. The best monthly peels and facials are: Green peels, Glycolic peel, and the microdermabrasion facial (safest option).
