About The Project

“Kashfak badayt salmtk – كشفك بداية سلامتك “ is a campaign to raise awareness about the importance of early detection of the multiple scoliosis disease (MS). The campaign was organized and created by Mass Communication senior students at Misr International University as their graduation project.

The campaign team’s message

“We aim to raise awareness about the importance of doing early detection because the symptoms of the MS disease are similar to many other diseases and they seem very normal symptoms but they are the beginning of the MS disease. The symptoms of MS disease are fatigue, vision problems, numbness and tingling, muscle spasms, stiffness and weakness, mobility problems, pain, problems with thinking, learning and planning, depression and anxiety, sexual problems, bladder problems, bowel problems, speech and swallowing difficulties.

Multiple sclerosis disease (MS) is one of the dangerous diseases that have no cure until now but by awareness we can help people and encourage them to do early detection before they reach a complicated situation. In MS disease the immune system attacks the protective sheath (Myelin) that covers nerve fibers and causes communication problems between the brain and the rest of the body. Eventually, the disease can cause permanent damage or deterioration of the nerves. Ignoring early MS symptoms could lead to disability as MS is the second cause of disability around the world.

MS has affected more youths around the age range of 16 to 45, and it affects women more than men, it particularly affects twice as many women as men being diagnosed with the disease.

After we made much research and consulted many specialized neurologists, we found that there is a lack of awareness about MS disease in Egypt, and a lack of awareness about the importance of its early detection and there is a lack of awareness about how to control the disease. Also most of MS patients are suffering from it without being aware that they have it.

We want to reach as many people as we can to make them aware of how much this disease could affect anyone of us without being aware. The percentage of patients in Egypt affected by MS is getting higher, and the government is offering free treatments with health insurance. We aim to build awareness about the early deduction and the long-term control of the disease.

We can spread awareness together by encouraging people to follow us to know more information about the disease and the campaign.”
