First, you must know a few causes of eye bags, these include: lack of sleep, dehydration or eating too much salt which causes water retention, smoking and allergies. So here are some tips to counter the tough effects on your skin:

  • Reduce salt and stay hydrated. This will reduce the fluid retention that can cause bags under eyes.
  • Get enough sleep. For most adults, seven to nine hours is a good amount of sleep.
  • Reduce allergy symptoms. Find out if you have allergies and try over-the-counter allergy medications. You might have under-eye reactions to hair dyes, soaps or cosmetics.
  • Use a cool compress. Wet a clean washcloth with cool water then apply to the skin under and around your eyes for a few minutes using mild pressure.
  • Use tea bags. The caffeine in the tea contains powerful antioxidants and may increase blood flow to your skin. It’s also said to protect against UV rays and potentially slow the aging process. Soak 2 tea bags for 3 to 5 minutes and cool in the refrigerator for 20 minutes then apply under your eyes for 15 to 30 minutes.under eye bags
  • Use cucumber slices or try mixing equal parts cucumber and lemon juice and then use a cotton ball to apply under your eyes and leave for 15 minutes. Do the same with rosewater, it can also soothe and rejuvenate tired skin.
  • Soak a small cotton pad in cold milk or orange juice and apply. A great source of vitamin A, which contains retinoids that are great for keeping skin looking bright and young.
  • Wear sunscreen every day. Choose a daily face moisturizer that’s also SPF 30 or higher.
  • Remove your makeup before going to bed. Makeup could cause puffiness.
  • Use a retinol cream or coconut oil daily before bed. A derivative of vitamin A, retinol stimulates collagen production and cell turnover, which can help soften wrinkles, smooth skin texture, correct dark spots, and clear acne.under eye bags
  • Eat foods rich in vitamin C and amino acids. Helps collagen production, creating healthier skin. Good sources of vitamin C include oranges, red peppers, kale, brussels sprouts, broccoli and strawberries.
  • Eat iron-rich foods too. Iron deficiency can cause dark circles under the eyes and pale skin. Iron-rich foods include red meat, poultry, seafood, beans, leafy green veggies, like kale and spinach, raisins, apricots, and peas.
  • Eat more Omega 3 found in salmon and walnuts to improve blood flow to the skin.
