Cortigiano is a great restaurant for Italian weekend brunch by the Nile.

Mantra: “Straight from the heart”

Type of cuisine: Italian

Dishes sampled: Nile Breakfast, Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon and Pancakes with fruits.

Cortigiano is one of those very traditional Italian restaurants in Cairo that has been around for decades. With many branches around the city, Cortigiano chose its restaurant at The Platform Maadi to inaugurate the Brunch Menu as they believe “Nothing can beat the Nile River breeze, morning, sun, and enjoying a good breakfast”.

The Brunch Menu is served on weekends only and has a pre-set breakfast option – Cortigiano Nile River Breakfast, which consists of a bread basket, assorted jams, honey and butter, a choice of omelet, and three-cheese platter (cheddar, white cheese and gorgonzola) served with salad (lettuce, tomato, cucumbers, and olives), accompanied by an orange juice and tea or coffee. We opted for the mushroom omelet, which also came with a salad and two sausages. Our second pick was the Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon, which was served with salad, sausages, and hash brown potatoes.  The portions were quite filling and the salads very generous. For dessert we shared the pancakes with fresh fruits – a short stack of 3 pancakes, soaked in syrup and filled with finely chopped selection of fruits (strawberry, banana, green and red apples).

Other menu options that appealed:  The Egg Corner of the menu brings a variety of ways to have your eggs served.

Beverages: Fresh juices, smoothies, and coffees.

Décor: Cortigiano at The Platform stays true to the restaurant’s traditional look of an Italian trattoria, red brick walls, wooden tables and chairs with a privileged Nile view. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating areas.

Clientele mix: Mainly couples and families

Price range:  Reasonably priced

Brunch hours: Fridays and Saturdays from 9 am to 1pm (Maadi only)

Address: The Platform, Corniche, Maadi
